I love photographing people and their work experiences, which is why I especially love to capture stock photography in work environments that focuses on softly directed reportage. It’s always a really fun and engaging session for everyone. Macfarlanes wanted some new photographs of their trainees, in various working and social situations, taking in some of the office locations. These would be used online for their trainee hub and also in digital and printed brochures (yes, people still print stuff, which is nice ).

I took about 30 shots in the end. I popped them in photoshop and reduced the contrast, adding a lot of light in the shadows. I’ve desaturated backdrops a little and lifted the colour in the individuals. I’ve pretty much shot most of these at F2.0 or £2.5, it’s really nice to throw the backdrop off, allowing the people to pop a bit and it’s also great for adding copy. On all things copy, you’ll notice some of the framing of the subject in some of the shots allows for copy to be added with ease.
